2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trek

The 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trek is a short yet most unforgettable adventure designed for travelers who wish to experience the magic of encountering the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Set in the spectacular Volcanoes National Park, this journey takes you into the heart of Rwanda’s breathtaking Virunga mountain range, where dense forests, volcanic landscapes, and incredible biodiversity create the perfect setting for an extraordinary wildlife experience.

This safari combines scenic drives through Rwanda’s famous Thousand Hills, comfortable accommodation near the gorilla habitat, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time with a habituated gorilla family. A single-day gorilla trek gets the job done, but it asks a lot of you in return a 3:00 AM pickup, two long drives, and a strenuous hike, all squeezed into one exhausting stretch.

A 2-day gorilla trekking safari removes that pressure entirely. Instead of racing the clock, you drive to Musanze at a reasonable hour, settle in for the night, and wake up already close to Volcanoes National Park, rested and ready for one of the most extraordinary encounters Africa has to offer.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival ,2 days Rwanda Gorilla Trek.

In the morning, at 7:00 am assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing and a park ranger to accompany you for the hike. You will also be assigned 2 porters to physically support you when the hike gets slippery.

At 8:00 am all cars will be heading to the mountain base. Begin the hike, which may take between 2 to 4 hours to get to the top; and an hour or 2 to return to the starting point. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorillas View Hotel/ 5 Volcanoes Lodge (Luxury)/ Da Vinci Lodge, Gorilla Solution Lodge, Le bamboo Lodge (Deluxe)/Muhabura Hotel (Budget).

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking.

In the morning return to the park headquarters for the briefing about the gorilla trekking activity at 7:30 am local time. You will be briefed on the dos and don’ts while tracking the mountain gorillas. You will also be assigned the gorilla group that befits you according to your physical fitness.
Encountering the mountain gorillas ranges between anytime less than an hour to three-quarters of the day.

After the gorilla trek, you will transfer back to Kigali for your scheduled flight.
